Systemic racism affects multiple aspects of life for Black youth who experience social injustice and inequity in the school and healthcare systems. TAIBU’s youth programming supports their natural potential for a bright future.

Supporting youth in Scarborough

TAIBU youth programs are designed to help youth overcome systemic racism, supporting them to achieve their true potential and success in school, employment and in the community.

Scholarships for youth who have been part of the foster care system are available

As a Community Health Centre we strive to help youth with opportunities to build a better future. This Foster Children Bursary Program offered by Storewell supports youth who are or are planning to attend post secondary education by offering a hand up as they prepare for their future.

The program offers an annual bursary of $2,000 in support of youth who have been part of the foster care system in Toronto or in Canada.

YOUTH Programs

Through mentoring and advocacy support from TAIBU’s professional team of coordinators, Scarborough youth benefit from supportive programs to overcome the mental health impact of systemic racism to do well in school, stay in school, and navigate their path to successfully secure employment.

If you are a Black student in conflict with the education system, you and your family can access supports and services. This project is focussed on prevention and supporting Black students by working collaboratively with students, parents, schools, police, youth services and legal counsel.
If you are under 30 and NEET (not in employment, education, or training) you are welcome to participate in FSSP.
This peer-led, peer-designed project addresses systemic barriers to graduation & meaningful employment faced by Black youth.
Black youth facing barriers in Scarborough can access dedicated clinical youth outreach workers and practical support. They can also access culturally appropriate and trauma-informed counselling,
as part of the East Quadrant Youth Outreach program.
Youth, aged 15-24 are invited to participate in this Africentric Peer Leadership Program, designed and led by youth. This program addresses the impact of mental health challenges for Black youth.
One-on-one mentorship and homework support for Black students aged 7-18 years. Discussions regarding cultural and social challenges that contribute to education and awareness are also a part of the program, offered in the GTA.
